Overview

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at RVS Technical Campus, Coimbatore, commenced its journey in 2009 with an initial intake of 60 students for the Undergraduate Program (B.E.) in Computer Science and Engineering. Expanding its academic offerings, the department introduced the Postgraduate Program (M.E.) in Computer Science and Engineering in 2012, admitting 18 students in its inaugural batch.

The Department is equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms and provides a comprehensive blend of theoretical foundations and practical expertise. Through structured training programs, students are empowered with effective communication, management, entrepreneurial, leadership, and interpersonal skills. The department ensures that its graduates are well-prepared to excel in highly technical fields, offering exceptional employment prospects and rewarding career opportunities. With a focus on up-to-date knowledge and industry-relevant training, the department remains committed to producing highly skilled professionals equipped to meet the challenges of the ever- evolving technology landscape.

The course trains the students of the basics and different aspects of computer engineering. It includes foundations of computer systems, computer architecture & organization, networking, the theory of computation, database systems, electronics, operating systems, programming and website designing, E- commerce & multimedia applications, principles of programming languages, software engineering, hardware engineering, etc.

Career in B.E is considered one of the most high-paying jobs and is imbued with opportunities; particularly in an era where India’s prowess in information technology industry is recognized globally. With expertise in guiding 12 projects, organizing 8 value-added courses, delivering 40 guest lectures, and serving as Chief Editorial Board Member for 11 reputed international journals.

Dr. R. Arun, has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the International Best Young Faculty Award (2019) by the International American Council for Research, USA, the International Innovative Technologist Award (2018) by SIESRP, Malaysia, and the National Level Best Teaching Faculty Award (2017) by Dr. Kalam Educational Trust, Chennai. He is also the recipient of the Best Social Worker Award (2017), Institutional Level Best Performer Award (2018), Outstanding Young Person Award (2021), Dr. M.S. Uthayamoorthy Award for Best Social Service (2022), and the Award of Excellence in Social Service (2023), highlighting his exceptional contributions to academia, technology, and social service.

Dr. R. Arun is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (MISTE), a Life Member of the International American Council for Research and Development (MIACRD), and a Certified Professional Life Coach (CPLC) from the Transformation Academy, Florida, USA. His research focuses on Networking and Performance Evaluation, Energy Optimization in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Network Security, and Cyber Security. He delivered over 250+ motivational speeches and organized 50+ public events, conducted 50+ blood and medical
camps.
