B.E.CSE.Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) is an academic programme that integrates the field of Computer Engineering. The Department had a beginning with an intake of 30 students in Under Graduate program in Computer Science and Engineering (B.E.) in the year 2023. It is one of the most sought after courses amongst engineering students. The course contains the basics of computer programming and networking. The topics covered in the course are computation, algorithms, programming languages, program design, computer software, computer hardware, and others. Computer science engineers are involved in many aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers to circuit designing and writing software that powers them. Many technical institutes in India and abroad offer UG (Undergraduate) and PG (Postgraduate) level courses in Computer Science and Engineering. Students can do B.E and M.E in Computer Science and Engineering from these institutes. Students pursuing these courses get to learn about the design, implementation, and management of information systems of computer hardware and software.

Dr. S. R. Mugunthan is a distinguished academician and researcher with over 22 years of teaching and administrative experience in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. Currently serving as the Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and the CSE at RVS Technical Campus, Coimbatore he has held several prestigious academic and leadership positions in reputed institutions across India. His expertise spans emerging technologies such as Machine Learning, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Wireless Networks, Natural Language Processing, and IoT. He is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor under both Anna University and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, reflecting his strong contribution to higher education and research guidance.
He has made significant research contributions through numerous publications in reputed international journals including Elsevier, Springer, and Scopus-indexed journals. He has authored books, received AICTE grant, guided doctoral scholars, and published multiple patents in areas related to artificial intelligence, wireless communication, and smart systems.
